Kalonji Kures was founded by Makia Carberry in September 2021. Kalonji is not only the name of her son, but a plant that seeds are used for healing many ailments. The name seemed fitting as she is also a nurse and is passionate about healing her community.
According to The American Heart Association, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside the hospital each year, with about 70% of those happening in the home. That means it is up to us, the community to fill in the gap until the professionals arrive.
Kalonji Kures' hope is to equip our students with the confidence to save a life.

Our services

Basic Life Support

This service is for healthcare providers, students in the medical field or any individual that requires a more in depth CPR class. If it is required for your field of employment, Kalonji Kures is here to train. We also provide recertification for expired BLS certifications.
Duration: Approximately 2-4 hours
Price: $65

Heart Saver/ First Aid/ AED

This service is for anyone who wants to be certified by American Heart Association. You do not have to be in the healthcare field. Individuals such as caretakers, boy/girl scouts, parents, grandparents, government officials, etc. are welcome to join us and sign up for classes!
Duration: Approximately 2-3.5 hours
Price: $75

Friends and Family

This service is for anyone who wants to know how to perform CPR efficiently! Though you do not get an official certificate from American Heart Association, you get the training and a certificate of completion from Kalonji Kures. You can upgrade to the Heartsaver package if you choose to.
